Portfolio: Baths
They say that you can’t be everything to everyone. Our challenge for this master bath redo was to arrive at a design solution that was just that – something for everyone…. a solution that met their disparate desires, yet made them both happy and retained the intimacy and comfort of being together for more than half a century in a shared bathroom.
She wanted a tub, room for storage, and a “private” sink area. He wanted a big shower and to be able to see the tv from everywhere, a separate toilet room, and his own closet.
A claw foot jetted tub in a windowed alcove that served as the springboard for all the design solutions is a focal point of the completed project. Vanities on either side of a
free-standing wall give each of them the feeling of each having their own bathroom.
The closets were set on the dry side of the bathroom, which gave them a true dressing room-suite feel, and allowed a reduction in the door count in the bedroom, giving them much needed wall space for dressers.
The customer wished for a higher level of refinement in the bathroom than one normally sees in a post and beam home. We were able to create an elegant new space that carried the post and beam theme into the new bathroom without it becoming too heavy, allowing her to have her cake and eat it too. It’s a great space………a light bright bathroom, which thrills our clients…. with all the amenities including two televisions, and a space that makes her feel like she has a new home. And when she’s happy, he’s happy.
