Portfolio: Kitchens
Our clients were a fun-loving couple with a small dark kitchen, whose
love of cooking together and entertaining family and friends incited
them to seek larger, open sunlit spaces where they could jointly cook
and entertain.
Double islands provide large central working areas for two chefs. The
differing countertop heights and materials add a playful side to this
kitchen.
An 18' folding glass door at the kitchen bump out opens this wall up
completely for an easy flow to and from the outdoor entertaining areas.
While only 200 sq ft was added on, it feels like so much more.
The great room was opened up to the kitchen with 2 archways. The
smaller archway hugs a baby grand piano, juxtaposing the two rooms.
Having it in the archway minimizes its mass, and helps to visually
connect the two rooms.
As a testament to the kitchen's functionality, the clients recently had
five couples over for an “Iron Chef” night. Everyone cooked at once, and with enough space to cook, hang out, mingle and watch, no one bumped into any one else!
