A “Grand Space” was created by relocating the kitchen to the center of this
90’s spec home. Going beyond the traditional kitchen triangle, the kitchen
was expanded into adjacent spaces. Differing cabinet finishes, counters and
glass tile help define separate spaces giving each area an individual character.
At the same time, the openness and flow of the layout tie everything together
into a cohesive “Great Space.” The flow of the layout provides continuity,
while differing textures and colors give the individual areas definition
and character.
To accommodate the quantity of appliances they desired, the kitchen was expanded
into places outside the kitchen proper - the wall between the kitchen and dining
room cabinetry houses built-in ovens and a built-in coffee maker, a wine cooler
and a refrigerator drawers. This allows more functionality without taking away
any counter or cabinet space needed for the working and prep zone areas in the
main area of the kitchen.
