"A once dark and cluttered kitchen, dominated by a structural post, has been completely transformed. By opening it up to the family room, we created a joyful, multi-use space.

The Greatest Room!

Closed-off To Connected
The homeowners wanted an open, welcoming place to gather. The original kitchen felt heavy and closed off, with a center beam, a large post in the island, short windows, and dated cabinetry that limited storage and natural light. Even with beautiful backyard views, they didn’t get to enjoy them.
By installing concealed steel beams, we removed the post and unified the kitchen and family room. The engineering was complex, but the payoff is a bright, seamless space with clear sight lines and a main level that feels larger, lighter, and effortlessly connected.

Opening up the main level completely transformed how this home lives and feels. To remove the dividing post and the heavy-looking beam, we installed a large steel I-beam and recessed it into the ceiling, which created a clean, flush finish and allowed the kitchen and family room to flow together naturally.
With the obstruction gone, the entire space feels brighter, more open, and much easier to navigate. Clear sight lines make conversations smoother, gatherings more comfortable, and everyday routines more enjoyable. What was once dark and divided is now a space designed for being together.

The updated kitchen blends soft, light cabinetry with warm wood accents to create a welcoming and timeless look. At the center, a spacious island anchors the entire room and becomes a natural place for prepping meals, hosting friends, or helping with homework.
Thoughtful storage, classic finishes, and improved lighting enhance both function and charm. The result is a kitchen that feels fresh and modern while still honoring the home’s original character and personality.
The new window seat adds an inviting moment of calm and provides a comfortable spot to read, relax, or enjoy views of the backyard. With natural light filling the corner, the entire area feels bright, cheerful, and closely connected to the outdoors.
Built-in storage keeps the space tidy and practical, making it just as functional as it is beautiful. It is a small architectural addition that brings warmth, character, and everyday comfort to the remodeled home.
